Rapunzel, Rapunzel

Rapunzel is now coloured. And now for a little rant I apologise in advance for the awfully long comment, please don't feel obliged to read it. lol.

_{Many people say that it is a bad thing to introduce new Disney princesses nowadays. To tell the truth at first the thought of imposing these new characters, such as Rapunzel into the fold of the likes of Belle and Ariel was completely preposterous to me. To incorporate new characters into my childhood was just not on. However, when I actually sat down and thought about it, my view changed entirely. These characters aren’t for me, but the new generation of little girls around the world. My mother grew up in the 50’s. She grew up with the likes of the Classic Disney Sleeping Beauty and Lady and the Tramp (that was her favourite). I grew up in the 90’s; I was influenced by the greats of the Disney Renaissance: Little Mermaid, Aladdin and the Lion King. The princesses and movies introduced to me were completely different to those that my mother grew up with. Thinking of this, I combined it with my aversion to the new princesses and saw that it was the exact same situation. Just two days ago my cousin’s wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl: Lily. I have a niece and a nephew. My cousin has four children, Lily, Ellie, Wayde and Klaye. My other cousin has two: Zac and Heidi. All of these children were born in the 21st century. I want Charlotte (my niece), Lily, Heidi and Ellie (and my own daughter when I have her) to grow up with Disney, especially the princesses, but they can’t just have the ones that my mother and I grew up with; they need their own. To see Tiana and now Rapunzel brought into their lives is a wonderful thing. They aren’t the princesses of the Classics or the Renaissance: they are the modern princesses. Sure they are different but every princess is. To see little girls all over the world look up to these spunky princesses, these role models, is the best I could hope for. If the new Disney princesses weren’t introduced what would Lily look up to? What would she dream of being? What would her child be composed of? Mine was Disney, Pokemon, Beatrix Potter and Harry Potter. Hers will most likely be Hannah Montanna and Dora the Explorer. I would take Tianna and Rapunzel over them any day of the week.}

That's just my opinion. I wanted to write it down somewhere.
